We are very much looking forward to many wonderful things that federation within forges can support.
Today also (coincidentally) happened to be the day of the submission of the NLnet grant application for work on federation.
These are indeed very exciting times, and we are very proud and thankful of the community surrounding Gitea.
#Gitlab took in almost $88 million in revenue during the last quarter and posted net losses of more than $25 million.
That's a bit hard to fathom, hosting a #cloud based #software
product that loses that much money in the face of so much income, not to mention that part of that revenue comes from customers who self-host.
But now this...
Hey #gitea instance admins. Do you have SSH for your Gitea instance enabled via OpenSSH? Then be aware that you should add `AcceptEnv GIT_PROTOCOL` to your `/etc/ssh/sshd_config` file! This enables Git Wire Protocol v2 for Git over SSH.
If you're using Gitea's Internal SSH Server, this behavior will be enabled in v1.17.1
Boost are are welcome for awareness.

Free software / open source myth of the day: "It's only something for developers.". FALSE! FOSS has many areas of work apart from coding: FOSS, like any software, needs testers, reviewers, designers, translators, and for games you also need artists, musicians, sound designers, ... There are many roles. #freesoftware #opensource
Hey all people out there 👋
If you use Woodpecker or Drone, it would be nice to know why you decided that way. (Pro/Con)
this is not about bashing but to document for others who still face the decision.
please respond to this toot or write directly to https://github.com/woodpecker-ci/woodpecker/issues/937
We like to create something similar to https://docs.gitea.io/en-us/comparison/
@JustineSmithies I've been using @gitea for a couple years and about 2 months back a weird FreeBSD-specific bug (probably relating to Go itself, rather than gitea) was fixed and I don't have random freezes anymore. :D
But gitea itself is *great* and I can't wait for the federation features to finally drop, tho in the meantime there's support for OAuth2. :3
It's pretty damn resource friendly but has all the features you need and has been easy to customize.
Documentation could be improved, tho…
